It’s been mostly quiet on the blog lately. I did a 5 day series a few weeks ago about hearing God and made a big announcement last week. But other than those, it’s been mostly quiet here.

I’ve been working on some projects at work and been focused on my family, including my son, Wesley, who is 6 months old this week.

Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing some of the things I’ve been working on with you.

One of those projects was a collaboration with my friend, Tony Elliott. Tony recently launched an effort he’s calling Captured Hope. Here’s the vision for the new endeavor…

Everyone has a story.

Some tell it.  Some just live it.  Alone.

Some have stories of cancer, poverty, abuse, hunger, thirst, brokenness, desperation…addiction.  The tragedy isn’t just that these stories actually exist, but that they are often never told.  When we don’t tell the sad stories, they can’t be transformed into stories of hope, love, grace, redemption…second chances.

Captured Hope was founded to do just that; to tell your story, to help you transform it and then share it.

Your personal story is significant.  The cause you support started with a story that is significant. The ministry or the mission you were called to has a story that is significant.

Captured Hope is a community of media professionals who follow Jesus Christ and share a passion for stories; stories of transformation.  Through still images, digital video, and music, the fruits of your labor and your love are captured and presented in a way that honors your struggles as well as your success; with integrity and dignity.

Everyone has a story. They are all significant.  Who is telling yours?

One of Captured Hope’s first projects was commissioned this summer by North Phoenix Baptist Church. Our Communications Team wanted to tell four stories of life transformation involving our Connect Groups. The stories, told through video, would be a part of our September campaign to help our people take their next step in becoming a part of our church community. We wanted to be able to share these videos as a part of our worship services in September, as well as sharing them through social media and our video archive page.

I became the staff liaison for the project, working with Tony. With the help of our staff, I identified the four subjects and contacted them to gain their commitments to the project. Tony and I picked a time that worked for both of us (8am on Sunday mornings), which would also be convenient for people already coming to church services. We lined up each interview 30 days in advance of that video’s air date, giving Tony time to produce and edit the short films. This advanced planning also gave me time to work with our worship team to make sure each video worked in the flow of the service and was technically aligned with our system.

Tony was an incredible joy to work with during this project. His passion for people, attention to detail, commitment to excellence and follow-through led to the success of this project. His creativity and flexibility allowed us to navigate challenges that presented themselves and our team was incredibly satisfied with the final product. These four videos now reside on the Connect page of our website and help tell visitors to our site about what can happen if they connect in one of these groups.

Thanks Tony for helping me and our church succeed. If you’re on staff at a church that doesn’t have someone on staff or in a volunteer role who can facilitate this kind of video production or storytelling, Tony could be a great asset to you. His ability to work on a project-basis could enable you to powerfully communicate who you are, what you’re doing and the opportunity others have to get involved with God is accomplishing through your church or ministry. Captured Hope is a great partner that you need to meet.

Check out Captured Hope and you will have the same blessing and privilege North Phoenix is enjoying. We’re already talking about what our next project with Tony and Captured Hope will be.
